Evelyn,

Thank you for your message and your kind words. Just as I mentioned in the post, I don't have any children, but I greatly admire someone like yourself who does and recognizes the importance of trying to be consciously present in their lives, rather than simply going through the same old motions.

I feel a strong pull toward working in the arena of alternative forms of schooling and education. The educational system is a huge part of that village, yet we often fail to recognize the cookie cutter approach of teaching, educating and mentoring children does not work.

Sure some kids do well in the more "standardized" environment, but it's time we start providing better options and choices for our kids that aren't a match to the traditional route. It's time to start creating more environments in which they can thrive through receiving an education which takes into consideration their unique talents, and creative capabilities, along with nourishing and nurturing the activities which they are drawn towards.

Thanks for visiting and participating. :)

Wow....this article is beautifully written. It is inspiring and filled with hope for a better future for our kids. I'm trying to instill some of these ideas myself in my two girls but have to admit that I am still far from the ideals as espoused here on your post.

Wow, thank you, Adam. Speaking of dancing, that's one of the (many) reasons I love watching the Ellen Degeneres Show. When it comes to the statements in your last two sentences - she gets it. Now, I don't have a single ounce of rhythm in my body, so my tool is the written word. :) Thanks for the link.

John, this article took my breath away. I agree with you wholeheartedly and believe you have outlined a roadmap we could use to raise better children, adults and communities. Then we would change the world... I recently watched the now famous Matt Harding on YouTube. A kid who thought it would be cool to do a silly dance in every country he visited and record it on his camcorder. Well that dance became an energy that brought people together around the world. He simply danced past barriers that even our most accomplished ambassadors could not scale. From a single selfless act goodness, hope and inspiration was spread around the world and watched by over 12 million people. Imagine what would happen if more of us simply danced... Watch Matt's video here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fvE8iMbT1aQ
