Conversations With God
January 19th, 2009 by John Wolfe
The Conversations With God Giveaway has closed. I’d like to congratulate Steven Labella of San Diego, California, Kirk Ray of Florida, and Ryan Brenny of Hilo, Hawaii. They each won a brand new copy of “Conversations With God.”
“I am not concerned about your worldly success – only you are. You are not to worry about making a living. True masters are those that have chosen to make a life, not a living. Go ahead, do whatever you really love. Do nothing else. You have so little time. Why would you want to waste it doing something you don’t want to do? That isn’t a living – it’s a dying.” – Neale Donald Walsch, “Conversations With God”
The above quote is one of my favorites from the film and it brings us to the second Wind of the Soul giveaway. In this second installment, I’m giving three brand new DVD copies of Conversations With God to three separate winners.
The film, directed by the Co-founder of Spiritual Cinema Circle, was meant to be a screen adaptation of the series of best selling books by the same name. Though the movie doesn’t represent the unfolding of the books – it does impart much of the same spiritual wisdom, as we follow Neale (played by Henry Czerny) through some extremely turbulent experiences.
Neale, like so many of us, prior to discovering the connection to his own divine nature, unconsciously battles his way through life. He has to scrape rock bottom before discovering the inner knowledge, which leads him out of the depths of his despair. And, that’s why this movie is so endearing to me. Granted, it has some very sad and depressing sequences, but the ultimate realization and self-awakening is what’s so inspirational.
Whether or not Neale was/is truly conversing with “God” in a verifiable way is a nonissue for me. If we are capable of quieting the mind and recognizing the creative, energetic, consciousness which flows through us, then in essence we are all conversing constantly with our own inner god or goddess. It’s up to us what we choose to do with those conversations. Neale chose to apply them in a manner which created benefit and value in his own life as well as the lives of millions of others.
Each of us has the same option. It’s up to us if we wish to allow it to work toward that which is most beneficial and advantageous for ourselves and humankind. This shouldn’t be motivated by or stem from a standpoint of following a contrived set of rules, but rather from the perspective of feeling for the inner dialogue which is most fulfilling, loving, nurturing, uplifting and translating it into action. To me, that’s what conversing with god and living life as creative, expansive beings is all about.
I wish all the best to everyone who enters.
Please, only one entry per household. Duplicate entries from the same IP will be deleted. This helps to make it fairer for everyone. I am not familiar with Walsh’s work but I certainly agree we do have to ‘…scrape rock bottom before discovering the inner knowledge’. The challenge then is to be aware with an open mind and allow the universal mind (or whatever name you know it by) to connect with you. I also believe the universal mind can connect with you through others and lead you to others who can enrich your unique journey.

Adam,
That’s a great point. Your last sentence hits on exactly how our path continues to unfold as we take inspired action. Thanks for your great message and for entering.

This World is truly changing, one person at a time. As more of us awaken to our inner consciousness, the light grows, soon it will be seen by all.

Kirk,
That’s exactly why I feel we each have the ability to create the change. By first setting our own internal and external example; we shine that very light you mentioned, which in turn is a way of giving “permission” to others to do the same. After so many years of negative, social conditioning, we almost need to know it’s OK to reach for our human and spiritual potential. Thank you for your awesome comment and for entering into the giveaway.

Nicholas,
Thank you for your entry. If you need to talk, you’re always welcome to send me an email or a You Tube message.

I saw this at the theater when it came out. Having read most of Neale’s books, the movie was a home run for me. I especially loved the sound track. I wish it were up on you tube for everyone to see. There’s no greater time for its message, than now.

Marc,
Thank you for entering. Someone had the entire film on You Tube about two years ago (divided into eight parts), but it’s been taken down. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the soundtrack by itself. Whenever I watch the film, I’m so caught up in the screenplay, I forget about the musical score.
Thanks again.

I read ‘Conversations with God’ a couple of years back and it really helped me see that God is not a force outside of us judging wrong or right. It became clear to me that wrong or right is only a matter of the heart and their is no judgement at all. It’s a good thing to break free from the conformity of societal and religious restrictions and be who we are.
I’m continually learning. By the way, John, the pictures on this site are so beautiful. They represent such peace and harmony.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Elaine,
That’s been a valuable piece of understanding for me as well – to come to know judgment is only human deep and exists in no other place outside our reactions. I’m still not able to fully apply this knowledge at all times because conditioning has taught me to label actions, but in theory I know it to be true.
Thank you for entering and for the kind words about the photos.
I’m glad you enjoy them.

The God I was told of since childhood was perplexing. A God who loves me yet wont speak to me? He hasnt spoken in over 2000 years? He loves me but if I do this or dont do that he will leave me to burn forever. One preacher says “THIS IS THE WAY” the other says “NO..THIS IS THE WAY” They only agreed on the eternal burning part. CWG made sense. My soul “felt” this is right. I think man is pretty darn capable of making hell with out any help of a diety. I feel much can be done to change the world with very little activism. What if we stopped complaining about satellite tv and simply stopped paying for it? What if we stopped complaining about unemployment and high prices and 1 spouse in every home quit there job? Look within your life and find the stuff you dont need. The things that mostly own you and lose your fear and let them go? They have to sell those cars I think the price would go down. What if we quit complaining to government to fix the high price of gas and we simply start with 1 day per week of not buying gas? We dont necessarily have to fight the powers that be. Just refuse to play their game. Fear is suppose to serve us, we look both ways befor crossing the street. We are not supposed to serve it. Even if someone doesnt believe Neale. After reading CWG, can you look at the world and be so sure that this is what God would want for us?

Excellent points, Joel! Pertaining to changing the world by relinquishing the material items most people are addicted to – essentially, that was exactly my stance in my recent post, Economic Recession = Rebirth.
While I believe there is nothing wrong with having a materialistically abundant lifestyle, the problem arises when we over attach our happiness to the constant result of needing to acquire more and more. An interesting bit of irony here, whenever I find myself in a position to afford an item which previously was unattainable, I discover I no longer want it anyway. This outcome has become the norm since I’ve begun pursuing my own inner wisdom and finding happiness to be a state of being which is less and less attached to external outcomes.
Thanks for entering and for your wonderful feedback.

Dear John,
Thanks for your generous gift of offering copies of the DVD of Conversations with God. I’ve seen some of the behind the scenes on Spiritual Cinema DVD’s, although I haven’t seen the movie yet. Conversations with God first came to my attention in 1998 when I was visiting Kauai. While a friend was visiting me there I expressed my long-standing exasperation with the whole religious picture that I’d been ruled by all my life ~ that only certain people go to heaven, and if you don’t buy it, you’ll go to hell, so it wasn’t worth the risk of NOT believing. She told me about Conversations with God, and after I dropped her off at the airport, I found a bookstore and bought Book One of the series. My life changed for the better! I’m very pleased that a movie has been made of Neil’s experiences, and I look forward to seeing the DVD sooner or later! Thanks again for your gift, John, and all you are doing/being in the world, be well ~ Lynn

Hi Lynn,
Thank you so much for entering and for sharing a little of your personal journey. It’s unfortunate, but at the same time beneficial that religion (and some spiritual teachings as well) use fear as the “hook” to keep people coming back for more. The reason I say it can be beneficial is because of the awakening which can occur once we see past the fear tactics. If it weren’t for the experience of religion, many of us would not be the freethinkers we are today.
Thank you, Lynn. I wish you all the best in the giveaway.

I’m listening to the audiobook on my Ipod as I type. So fare it agrees with my own reason and my own common sense. Now I have one question that I ask my self and the universe what will I learn next? From all the things I’ve learn in th past six months. Everything gets deeper and deeper into the rabit hole. And i’m loving every bet of it. Can’t wait to see what I learn next.
And I would love to get a free dvd of “Conversation with God”
Love to all those good and bad, loved and not loved.
Thanks for everything, and the things soon to come. John

Austin,
It’s great to hear from you. I’m glad you’re enjoying the audio version. Is that the one with Ed Asner reading the part of god? I know what you mean about the rabbit hole. Everyday is an adventure in digging deeper within. Even if I’m not actively learning something from others on any given day, I’m forever challenging my own limited scope of interpreting reality. If we apply ourselves, it’s easy to see there’s no end to broadening our horizons.
Thank you for entering and for your continued support!

Hey there John,
I have to say thank you…I am 23 and i am blazing my own path, if it was not for this website it might have taken me awhile to actually realize i was doing such a thing. I have really controlling family that doesnt want me to be me. It is very frustrating to have the idea that your family wants the best for you,but when you go against the grain (be me) they ridicule you and try to stop you. I read your blogs and i have come to understand a lot more a bout my life and the cosmic plan. I am moving to Hawaii right now against everyone’s so called advice that i am throwing my life away. It is hard because it has to come from within…and my whole life i have been looking outside myself for approval. It is so wonderful to read someone ideas who understands this and it has help me in more ways then i think you could ever imagine. THANK YOU for i will forever be grateful! So i am on my way now…nothing has brought me more JOY! I look forward to reading your archives and learning more everyday. PEACE my friend!!!!
