The Secret

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Prior to writing this entry, I contemplated whether or not I should even devote a post to this topic. Not because it’s not extremely worthwhile, but because anyone that’s even the slightest bit interested in mystical self empowerment and spiritual growth has already been bombarded with information pertaining to The Secret.

In fact, it’s probably one of the only films, coming out of the self help/metaphysical genre to blast its way into the stratosphere of the mainstream market, without even having a theatrical release. And once Oprah Winfrey got involved, by having teachers from the film on her television and radio shows, it reached an even broader audience. However, there’s always the possibility that many newcomers to the information I discuss, in the Wind of the Soul Blog, may not be familiar with the film- so it’s with the intention of bringing this information to those readers that I decided to pursue this post.

Intentionally Reclaiming Our Power

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

It took a long time for me to completely grasp the concept of the power and potential that not only flows through each one of us, but that is each one of us. For years, I never fully acknowledged the main metaphysical principle, which all of my reading, discussions, and experiences seemed to be pointing toward. I used to spend time around people that were interested in the same metaphysical subjects, yet as soon as they would start referencing ideas pertaining to a supreme power within the Universe and within ourselves, I would feel myself becoming extremely rigid. I’d typically leave the conversation with a slight chip on my shoulder, usually accompanied by an eye roll directed toward what had just been discussed.

It’s amazing when I look back on those times because I considered myself open minded, yet I now realize that I was approaching my existence from a point of disempowerment. While I was always fired up to talk about spirits, reincarnation, and all manner of supernatural subject matter, I wasn’t capable of acknowledging the basis for why these occurrences were even possible in the first place.

Q & A: Death & We are What We Think

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Since doing my first Q & A post I’ve had a couple of emails come in, specifically asking me to address their questions in my next installment:

Question: Recently, my children have been asking a lot of questions about death and dying. I’m pretty spiritual and open minded and have read a lot of metaphysical works about the whole process, but I still notice my own doubt and fear creeping in, while discussing the subject. Since I know you have had several spiritual type experiences, I was wondering if you still struggle with thoughts of your own demise?

Exploring Reincarnation - Part 2

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Reincarnation has many critics that consider it to be a far fetched and controversial subject, especially when exploring it through second hand accounts, but when someone actually experiences something, first hand, it can shift into a plausible possibility. The most common (well, maybe not common, but most direct) way for someone to have an intentional experience with what are said to be past life memories, is through a process known as past life regression. Regressions are usually performed in the presence of a qualified therapist/hypnotherapist.

The therapist slowly takes the client into a deeply relaxed meditative/hypnotized state. Some may claim regression is an extremely deep hypnotized state; however I have been meditating for a number of years and can see major similarities between the states I achieve and the states achieved with the aid of a therapist. However, it’s not just the state but the visualization techniques that are employed, during a professional regression, that aid in unlocking memories from the distant past.

Illusions

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Every person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you.”

The quotes I’ve included, throughout this post, are from a very inspiring book called Illusions, which I just finished reading. The author, Richard Bach, uses a fictional backdrop to bring forth some amazing metaphysical teachings. Richard appears as himself in the story during a Midwestern summer, in which he’s selling joy rides in an old biplane. He flies from town to town, providing his service, until he runs across a most unusual stranger, named Don, who’s engaging in the same form of employment.
