Peaceful Warrior

A couple of nights ago I had the opportunity to watch the film Peaceful Warrior, which is a screenplay translation of the book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. Both the movie and book are based on true events. The film follows Dan (played by Scott Mechlowicz), a college student and Olympic gymnast hopeful, through extremely pivotal points in his young life.
Fully submerged in the most “superficial” aspects of existence and unhappy with himself, Dan stumbles upon spiritual wisdom from an unlikely source- an old man (played by Nick Nolte) working out of a gas station. Dan’s encounters with ‘Socrates’ (Nolte) begin to open doors in his mind that provide new ways for seeing and interpreting his world. He soon realizes he has been struggling against himself and must learn to release resistance, fear, and negativity in order to find happiness and become truly conscious.
