Our Conscious Origin

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I’ve recently been discussing ways in which we have access to empowering ourselves through our own innate mystical means. When I say we, I most definitely include myself because I’m always working through releasing worrisome, fearful, anxious emotions. I’ve come to the realization I was making it a habit to stay hung in undesirable emotional states far too often. Staying in those states was not only extremely counter productive and counter creative (from the manner I truly desired); over time it was taking its toll on my self esteem, and confidence, pulling me away from my center.

There is a positive aspect to my past negative emotional states, however- they allowed me to more clearly define exactly what I desire in life. It’s through this clarity that I feel I have a much sharper image of where my life is headed. I now realize when I experience undesirable emotions; the issue that’s bringing them forth needs to be resolved- within myself. As I find ways to internally resolve those issues, my external life experience moves smoother and my reality begins to take shape in a manner I find more desirable.

Exploring and Creating Our Reality

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

Today’s entry might feel a little trippy, so before reading any further you may want to break out a tie dyed t-shirt, lava lamp and throw Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” in the 8-track. Wait a minute- I like that song. :) All kidding aside, I’m going to be discussing human consciousness, its relationship with reality and techniques for altering our current reality. I’ve already ventured lightly into this area in other posts, but it’s here that I want to take this concept a lot further.

Discussing the true nature of reality is one of my favorite subjects because it pertains to all of us. We obviously are all experiencing what we call reality on a daily basis. As long as we are consciously aware of our surroundings and environment, then we are experiencing a form of it. We move through our lives unaware of how profound our interactions are with it, yet all the while something amazing is occurring around us. The real question though, is are we affecting reality or is it affecting us?

The Dark Side?

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Almost all films and novels, whether they’re dramatic, action, or suspense based feature villainous characters- it’s pretty much a rule of thumb. We love to see some sort of battle, be it psychological or physical, between good and evil. The horror movie genre is no different, except for the fact that evil triumphs most of the time, at least until the production company runs out of sequels in the series. :)

If you’ve got a good guy, you always have to have his polar opposite- the night to his day, black to his white, and on and on. It’s all symbolic of duality. Fiction typically mimics an aspect of human consciousness, be it sometimes an absurd or exaggerated translation. Movies and books aside, what about the notion of “evil” being motivated by the actions of some sort of overseer of darkness?

Mental Illness & the Metaphysical

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

We live in a society full of labels and people who are far too eager to attach those labels. Anything or anyone that takes on certain characteristics is usually lassoed, hog tied and branded before they get very far out of the starting gate. For many, it begins as soon as their first ultra sound images are taken, while still in their mother’s womb- in this case they haven’t even made it out of the starting gate yet! If the doctor finds any apparent abnormality, the baby is immediately labeled with a condition, which may or may not affect them psychologically (for the rest of their lives), depending upon the mindset of the child and its parental and peer environments.

A great example of the refusal of negative labeling can be found in the classic book, Think and Grow Rich (you can find free PDF files of the book online by doing a search), by Napoleon Hill. Napoleon’s son, Blair, was born mute and deaf, without any of the proper auditory anatomy to allow him to comprehend sound. Doctors warned Napoleon and his wife that their son would never hear or speak.

Connecting With the Mystical

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

After writing my post pertaining to the film, Peaceful Warrior, I thought this would be a good time to elaborate a little further on my own journey towards connecting with the mystical. I don’t claim to have arrived by any stretch of the imagination. Life is an ever expanding process which I sometimes pursue fearfully and other times joyfully, but always as consciously and as aware as possible.

I don’t intend to offend anyone with this post, I only intend to be as open as necessary, to bring across the information. I have come to an understanding that there is value in all journeys, whether they are similar to my own or not. I don’t feel there is only one correct path to achieving a mystical/spiritual connection, but I do feel there is one which is incorrect- and that is anything that causes you to forsake your own feelings, emotions and inner guidance. When you tune out your own inner awareness, taking into consideration what others think and view, as being correct for your life, you have started down the path of losing touch with yourself.
